LEED-ing the way to the next 60 years: A new State Headquarters and Research Building for TTI at Texas A&M
The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), a state agency and a member of the Texas A&M System, new State Headquarters and Research Building provides the first official state headquarters in the agency's 60-year history and houses a state-of-the-art Visibility Research Laboratory as well as offices for research and administrative programs. The facility is located in the Texas A&M Research Park, sited next to their existing Gibb Gilchrist Building, and forms a campus for the Institute. The facility, which was occupied in December 2009, is anticipating LEED silver certification. In developing the appropriate options for achieving LEED, the Architect identified strategies focused on increasing research productivity through enhancing the quality of the employee environment. As part of the LEED process, TTI’s facilities director provided the leadership to develop a Green Cleaning Program that is being implemented Campus wide. We will review the highlights of our LEED strategies, including the Green Cleaning Program, discuss the impact on the construction process, and the innovation credits we anticipate achieving.
