Public/Private Partnership - Mixed Use Development University of Texas at Arlington
As a major step in the implementation of the UTA 2007 Master Plan a collaborative partnership between the University of Texas at Arlington, (UTA), the City of Arlington, and First Baptist Church of Arlington, has been formed to develop a new $80 million mixed-use “College Town” development at the northeast corner of the UTA campus. The multi-use 800,000 SF program converts what were surface parking lots (less) at the prominent Northeast corner of the campus into (more) a complex of multistory buildings that consist of parking structures, student housing and support facilities, the University Welcome Center Satellite Police Station, and retail shell space. Learn from the UTA perspective the planning and activities that created the successful partnership, the long term outcomes planned for the “College Park” development and from the designer’s perspective the challenges of successfully combining the variety of building types and uses within a constrained budget and multi-phased schedule.
