“SPACE in Action: Transforming Research Environments for the Future Campus”

September 23, 2026 1:00 pm | Regency
This session examines how Texas Southern University is transforming its research infrastructure through the Nabrit Science Center and the Catalyst for Urban Transformation—two interconnected facilities replacing outdated environments and supporting emerging fields in STEM, health, and urban innovation. Using the SPACE framework (Strategic Alignment, Predictive Operations, Adaptive Environments, Connected People, and Equity & Impact), the project team illustrates how institutions can align facilities investments with academic priorities, integrate data-driven planning, and deliver flexible, future-ready research environments. Closing takeaway: “If your research strategy is evolving—but your facilities aren’t—you’re already behind.” Attendees will gain practical strategies to modernize research spaces, support faculty and student success, and position campuses for long-term competitiveness.
