Gena English

Gena English, MBA, CHID, EDAC, RAS, is Assistant Vice President of Facilities Planning, Design & Construction at UT Southwestern Medical Center. With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare design and strategy, she has led transformative initiatives across acute care, outpatient services, senior living, and research environments.

At UT Southwestern, Gena provides executive oversight for campus master planning, programming, interiors, wayfinding, and systemwide design standards—aligning long-range institutional growth with human-centered, evidence-based design. Her previous leadership includes overseeing interior design for the new Parkland Hospital Campus and managing multi-state healthcare portfolios for leading furniture manufacturers.

A frequent presenter and published contributor to healthcare design research, Gena is passionate about advancing environments that support clinical excellence, innovation, and patient experience through thoughtful, strategic planning.
