Barry Hand
GenslerBarry Hand is a Principal in Gensler’s Dallas office with decades of experience advising higher education institutions on campus planning, capital investment, and placemaking strategies. As an architect and practice area leader, Barry works closely with college and university leadership, facilities teams, and public stakeholders to translate institutional goals into resilient, long-term campus environments that support student success and operational performance.
Barry brings extensive experience leading complex, multi-phase projects that balance design excellence with budget, governance, and lifecycle considerations. Recognized as an industry thought leader, he regularly speaks at professional conferences and contributes to publications focused on campus planning and the future of learning environments.
His civic leadership includes service on the boards of the Greater Dallas Planning Council and Downtown Dallas, Inc., and on the executive committee of the Dallas Wind Symphony – a personal passion. Barry previously served as Chair of the Planning Commission in Richardson, Texas, is an Adjunct Studio Critic at Texas Tech University’s College of Architecture, and is a member of ULI’s Urban Design and Mixed-Use Product Council.
