Doug Lowe

An architect by degree, Doug specializes in the intricate detailing of pre-project planning, architectural programming and strategic facilities planning. Doug’s pragmatic approach clarifies the interconnected relationships between the many functions of a proposed facility and the people who will utilize that space. Throughout his career, Doug has led the programming process for more than 1700 projects. He quickly grasps the big picture issues that control a project and exhibits a natural talent to help those involved understand the decisions that need to be made, and in which order. Highlights of his many achievements and experience include, leading the team that wrote the Facilities Programming Guidelines for The University of Texas System, used by all architects working for The UT System. Under his leadership, Facility Programming has programmed more than $35 billion worth of university, community college, academic medical research, and institutional facilities spanning 15 countries and 48 US states.

Doug founded Facility Programming in 1992 and continues to lead as the firm’s president. He has spoken at a myriad of conferences and is a recognized expert in his field.
