Wesley Schmidt
J.T. Vaughn Construction, LLCWes brings a lifelong connection to construction, beginning with summers spent working alongside his father in the field. That early experience built a hands‑on understanding of core building systems—including concrete, steel, welding, rough carpentry, and HVAC—and continues to inform his practical, system‑focused approach to project delivery.
Since joining Vaughn in 2007, Wes has built a reputation for leadership on complex projects requiring high levels of coordination and accountability. He served as Senior Project Manager for the University of Texas at Austin’s Engineering Discovery Building, as well as the ECJ 7th and 8th Floor renovations, partnering closely with academic leadership and campus operations to deliver technically sophisticated spaces ready for occupancy and long‑term use.
Wes also played a key role on the 1.6‑million‑square‑foot Sarofim Pavilion and Parking Infrastructure Building at the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, joining the project immediately after Vaughn assumed it from another contractor. He developed and executed a comprehensive transition plan to seamlessly take over ongoing construction while maintaining budget and schedule—completing the transition two weeks ahead of plan.
Wes excels at large‑scale execution where system readiness, collaboration, and disciplined delivery are essential to achieving successful turnover and occupancy.
